Day boarding schools in Delhi and NCR are making an effort to make their schools more diverse by taking students from different cultural and religious backgrounds. This helps the students to interact with students from different background and understand them closely. This gives them a chance to interact in diverse surroundings, which eventually prepares them for the real world. Pupils who attend schools with diverse people around may develop a comprehension of the views of children from various foundations and figure out how to function in multicultural and multiethnic surroundings.
Schools should take a positive strategy recognizing diversity. A parent also needs to look past the numbers to assess a school strategy to diversity. To create a favourable environment where students and teachers are respectful of different foundations, schools have to be positive.
In a classroom, the tutor can structure learning groups which are diverse and formulate activities that need each student to add to the group. For the teachers, it could be a challenging situation as no child should feel left out. Schools are also required to meet state adequate yearly improvement targets for their total student populations for specific demographic subgroups, including major ethnic and racial groups. If possible, schools should also focus to hold special classes for economically disadvantaged, disabled, and limited English proficient students.
Handling students who come from various religious and ethnic backgrounds is not an easy job. Conflicts are bound to come and teachers might find themselves in tricky situations at times. In such a situation, its important to keep the focus intact and work on the yearly and monthly targets that teachers have set for their students.
