Yes, studies abroad suggest there is a sleep pattern in our body clock which shifts phases as we age. The reasons for the shift are unknown but the pattern is quite similar for a particular age group across the globe. Besides the social structure and contemporary lifestyle provides more excuses for staying up late. Mobile phones, internet, competitive studies and a whole gamut of factors are eating into their sleeping time. Thus, all in all a sleep deprived adolescent is a moody, grumpy, angry and stressed one. There is enough evidence that sleep deprivation restricts growth and mental activity.
